How StumbleUpon Doubled My Traffic

Last week I gave you a compilation of the 15 Best StumbleUpon Traffic Articles I’ve ever found on the web. Today I wanted to tell you how StumbleUpon has worked for me first hand.

I put some of my blogs’ homepages on StumbleUpon in September 2011, but I never did anything besides that. I just forgot about it.  I knew in the back of my mind there was more to do to maximize my StumbleUpon greatness, but I just never got around to it.

For the last few weeks I’d been hearing more and more about how awesome StumbleUpon works for getting traffic to a blog, so last week, I decided to submit about 10 of my blog posts from this very blog to StumbleUpon, (the posts’ individual page urls, rather than just the homepage of my blog). After I submitted those posts, I went to my StumbleUpon profile and I clicked on each of my submissions and clicked the thumbs up for my own submissions:

Once your page has a Like on StumbleUpon, it is more likely to be seen by more people, so you have to be the one to Like it first.

Immediately I noticed an increase in traffic to my blog. Last Thursday, I received 143 pageviews on this blog (which has been pretty average lately). The very next day on Friday, after I submitted my blog posts to StumbleUpon and clicked the thumbs up for each of them, I received 295 pageviews.

So it would be a true statement to say that StumbleUpon brings you more traffic. It doubled my traffic in one day just by putting up 10 blog posts and clicking that thumbs up for each one. Could it double your traffic?

Not only that, but for this very blog, I now have over 130 blog posts. If I submitted every single article I had ever written, I would receive plenty more traffic than if I just stuck with the 10 blog posts I submitted to StumbleUpon.

So what is my advice for you? If you have a blog and you’d like more traffic coming to it, submit your blog posts to StumbleUpon. The more you submit to StumbleUpon, the more pageviews you’re going to get, so my suggestion is to submit all your blog posts to StumbleUpon. Then they will be floating around StumbleUpon forever for others to see. Not only that, but if more people click the thumbs up on your articles, it will give your blog that much more exposure.

I’m not saying that StumbleUpon is guaranteed to bring you double the traffic, but it’s sure to help, and it definitely won’t hurt.

All sorts of people are browsing StumbleUpon on a daily basis, so no matter what your blog is about, there are people browsing StumbleUpon who are interested in your topic!

StumbleUpon has become a blogger’s dream come true, and if you’re not using it, you’re doing yourself a disservice. If you want more traffic to your blog, this is the fastest and easiest way to get a lot of it!

So sign up with StumbleUpon now and start submitting all your articles. Just don’t forget to go to each of your StumbleUpon submissions on your profile and click the thumbs up!

My goal is to submit all my blog posts from OMT to StumbleUpon (when I get around to it…) and then I will work on my Blog and Retire Case Study house blog. I am also planning on adding StumbleUpon to the Blog and Retire eCourse as one of the daily tasks. It’s an extra thing to do, but it only takes about 2 minutes and it’s well worth it!
