How to Find Quality Internet Marketing Books

This is a guest post by Alex Lopez at Online-Degree.com.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of Internet Marketing books and e-books available today. With so many options, how do you know what to buy and what to bypass? We’ll get to that in a bit, but first some background information on internet marketing and what it entails.

What is Internet Marketing?

Internet marketing, also known as online marketing or e-marketing, is the marketing and promotion of products or services over the Internet. It ties together the following creative and technical aspects of the Internet:

  • design
  • development
  • advertising
  • sales

Internet marketers use a variety of strategies to showcase and generate customer engagement for the product or service they are promoting. Search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), ads on specific websites, e-mail marketing, and mobile marketing are some of the most popular strategies used today.

Best Internet Marketing Learning Resources

If you are new to internet marketing and you want to expose your brand or business on the web, reading an internet marketing guide book or e-book is a great place to start learning. Here’s what to look for:

  • It has to be well written. I like an easy, friendly read. It must flow logically and avoid unhelpful tangents.
  • It must teach me something unique. I really don’t appreciate books that simply rehash stuff that I already know, or can find online for free.
  • It must be practical. I don’t want to be taught theory that is too complicated to put into action.
  • It should show there is a real money-making potential. After all, money is the end goal of internet marketing.

When visiting forums, reading reviews and asking industry colleagues about internet marketing books/e-books to buy, I’ve learned that most books will be of little help unless written by a true author. The unfortunate truth is that a lot of books on internet marketing are written by people who want just want your money. These books are usually filled with rehashed ideas that you can discover for free. Always trust your instincts… BS is pretty transparent.

Separating Scammers from Authors

So how do you separate scammers from real authors? Like with any investment, do your research.

One of the things I look for when before I buy a book/e-book, or a training course, is product reviews. Most products are reviewed in forums and on social networks (Facebook, Twitter). You can’t always trust the testimonials from the seller’s website. Try to find out what the average Joe has to say about the product.

Did he make money implementing what he learned? Did he learn anything at all? Was it easy to read? Did it have visuals and step by step instructions? Believe me when I tell you, if the book is awful, there will be a ton of reviews, and if it’s the best book ever written, it will have tons of feedback as well!

The last thing I look for is numbers (financials). I want to see bank account screenshots (if I am buying a video tutorial course, I want to them to show me analytics as well). I want to be able to connect with the author and see if they are genuine about their material, or just out there to make a quick buck. And most importantly, I want to make sure they are invested in me, and go the extra mile to give me more for my buck. Who doesn’t like a nice bonus, or a take-action incentive?

Now You Can Find Helpful Internet Marketing Books

If you do your research and use the tips provided on this page, you’ll be able to determine which books are helpful, and which are a waste of your time. You’ll soon realize that BS authors are easy to spot, especially in the internet marketing niche.
