What’s in It and What Did I Do?

Week 33 is all about Pinterest. I give reasons to join Pinterest (no matter what your business is about) and how to utilize Pinterest to your advantage, depending on the type of business you have.

I joined Pinterest for the house blog awhile back, and I periodically pin stuff from my blog which gives direct links from Pinterest back to my blog.

One of the coolest things about Pinterest is that they have a little widget that you can put in your bookmarks so you can easily pin any image from any webpage you’re currently on. There is also a way for you to Tweet or Facebook about your new pin. People then have the opportunity to re-pin what you’ve pinned and then their followers can do the same.

It’s also really easily to follow other like-minded people on Pinterest. Just search for a keyword related to your blog/business and then pins will pop up. You can go to the people who pinned related images and follow them. Many times people will follow you back. Just make sure you have some pins up so that there is a reason for people to follow you. It’s like Twitter, if you’re not tweeting, why should people follow you. And on Pinterest, if you’re not pinning, why should people follow you?

Case Study Blog Stats

Here are the case study blog stats for July so far:

  • Unique Visitors: 3,198
  • Number of Visits: 6,861
  • Number of Pageviews: 14,709
  • Number of Hits: 104,777
  • Links around the web: 450
  • Search Keyphrases: 492
  • Twitter Tweets: 3,726, Following: 1,812, Followers: 1,553
  • Fans on 1house1couple’s Facebook page: 102

I’m pretty happy with my stats so far this month. If it keeps going like this, it should be my best month ever with the house blog, so let’s hope and pray. The weird thing is that I’m not doing much to drive traffic to the house blog, so I’m not sure why it’s doing so well this month. My husband thinks it might just be because it’s getting a bit older and so it’s naturally going to just get more and more attention.

I also didn’t keep my “vow” from last week. I did not contact any advertisers. I may wait until August afterall, to contact advertisers directly.

But I did sign up for another way to make money with the blog, which I will reveal in the Case Study Blog Update Week 36. I signed up on Sunday and I already got two paid “assignments” this week.

Glad you can see the value in joining pinterest. I agree that once you join and look around, you can see how to use it, no matter what niche your business is.
