What’s in It and What Did I Do?
Week 37 is all about catching up on things you’ve been slacking on. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and forget about all there is to do. Sometimes the simplest tasks get put to the wayside while you’re doing new and more complex tasks.
I give a list of all of the most important simple tasks to help keep you focused this week and get caught up on things like social media, commenting, and just plain writing blog posts.
What did I do? I finally contacted 6 advertisers. Instructions in Week 30 explain how to get proactive about getting companies to sponsor your blog. Well, I’ve put it off long enough. So now I’ve contacted some companies and we’ll see if I get any takers. It’s kind of like looking for a needle in a haystack, but there will be takers here and there.
Here’s a trick. Look at other blogs in your niche that have advertisements. Contact the companies that are advertising on those blogs (not the AdSense ads). Sometimes they will let you know who handles their advertising, then you have a possible goldmine. Contact the company that handle’s their advertising and ask if there are any possibilities for sponsorship with relevant companies. Explain why advertising on your blog would benefit them (give stats and such) and let them know that prices are negotiable and you’re flexible with the type of ad.

So far this month is not looking as good as last month. I am planning on doing some StumebleUpon stuff later on this month. I introduce StumbleUpon to the blogging tasks in Week 9, and I suggest you submit your post each time you publish a blog post, but I haven’t used StumbleUpon for my house blog at all yet. I still need to create a new StumbleUpon account specifically geared toward that blog. Then I should get a bunch of traffic from that to make up for any losses we’re seeing right now.
