Twitter Increases Follow Limit from 2,000 to 5,000

This just in! Twitter Support announced today that they are increasing their follow limit from 2,000 to 5,000!

This can mean a lot to the people out there who just want to follow more people because there are more than 2,000 people they’re interested in.

I’m still wondering what their following to follower ratio rule is now. If it’s the same as before, or if that is going to be changed along with the follow limit. Up to this point, once the amount of people you follow reaches 2K, the ratio has been 2:1.8. So when your following number reaches 2K, you need to exceed 1.8K followers before you can follow more. So your followers number needs to be about 90% of your following number. I guess we’ll see if this changes.

So now all you people who are following 2,000 (but don’t have 1.8K followers yet) can go out there and follow 3,000 more people if you’d like. But don’t go crazy. Twitter still suspends and locks accounts if you’re following too many too fast, etc.

  1. Hi Lisha,

I didn’t know about but after 3 month i got this news that twitter allowed 5000 follower is that mean we can follow 5000 people in one day

      Hi Ravinder,

There are still limits to how many you can follow in one day, and I personally would not follow that many people in one day because twitter sees that as aggressive following, and that is recognized as spam, so they might potentially lock or suspend your account–which is not the end of the world in my opinion because you can easily unlock your account, and pretty easily get your account unsuspended. But if you are a continuous offender of any of their regulations and guidelines, your account could be permanently suspended, so if your twitter account is important to you at all, it is better to stay on the safe side and connect with people more slowly and naturally.
